It'll then perform an animation as if it is about to spit resin, but will do some sort of dive/corkscrew into the tame and voila!

I think he means that vegetables give more food points, so it will take longer before the beast is hungry again. The result will be the same. Eg: a dino eats 10 vegetables in 10 minutes and taming bar gets to 50% = dino eats 20 mejo in 10 minutes and taming bar gets to 50%. This is because mejo give less food points than vegetables.As BigDally said, Mejo's are the preferred for Stego's, but keep in mind Mejo's are one of the more rare berry and Stego's take hours to tame. So you'll need a lot and will have to do extensive farming to keep up. Taming time isn't affected by the type of food you feed it.
