HK VP9. The only truly new gun of the three, the VP9 breaks from HKs long line of hammer fired pistols, and is the first striker fired pistol made by HK since the venerable P7 went out of production. Also introduced in 2014, the VP9 is magazine compatible with the older P30 and P2000, which makes upgrading a bit less painful for the HK faithful.The VP9 uses the proven P30 steel magazine, with 15 or 10 round capacity. The trigger has a consistent pre-travel pull with a positive wall/crisp break. Shooter has a less than noticeable pre-travel pull until the trigger reaches the engagement point of the fire control parts prior to trigger break. VP9 ships with 2 magazines.The P30 has a totally different trigger than the VP9 and VP9SK. It has a much longer trigger reset. After each shot you have to let the P30 trigger out much further to get it to the reset point to where the gun can be shot again. Since you are new to guns it would be helpful to have two guns that have a similar feeling trigger.

My P30 & VP9 both fit well I n the TT Gunleather holsters I own that were made for my 45C. I bought a used Safariland open top range holster marked 'P30'. It fits my VP9 'ok'. There is some hangup on the draw. I replaced it with a new Blade Tech OWB holster, designed for the VP9. The fit is excellent, and the draw is very smooth.Pros: Vp9 is the best shooting polymer gun on the market. The Meps are great nights sights and allow you to rack your slide off of almost anything. I really like both of these guns a lot. No doubt, the trigger in the VP9 is pretty damn slick. On the other hand, the P30 trigger is pretty average at best, but in a good way. It's the Version 3/DA/SA. Not nearly as slick as the VP9, but much safer IMHO. The P30 is a safer gun to use in high-stress situations.The Hype. Shield is smaller than all of the above and is a decent weapon. My Shield became a backup truck gun. Never carry mine anymore. Vp9sk gets the nod compared to all mentioned. It's twice the gun that the G26 or Shield is. You would not be disappointed in purchasing the sk.
