I have a spare engine from a 87 6.9 but the alternator on that one has an internal regulator (the one in picture) I thought that was weird that an older truck 6.9 would have an internal regulator and my newer 90 one has an external on the fender. Guys here suggested someone may have swapped it to a 3G so I posted a picture for him to look at it.Gauge: For using the wire in the alternator, you need to choose the right size. If this is the alt/reg system you have then it is best you convert to the single wire SI model alternator and get rid of those two external regulators and you will eliminate several other wires including that screwy switch on the dash.
